In recent news there as been a high profile case in were a large torrent site creators have been tried in court and convicted to there defence the creators pleaded that their site did not actually host any material but acted as a gateway to the torrents but the court ruled that from the advert on the site they still made money from the site.

She is one of the first people in the UK to be taken to court by computer game manufacturers who are seeking to protect their copyright. The prosecution could open the floodgates for other games, music and film companies to claim back millions of pounds in damages from filesharers. The Patents County Court in London ordered the woman to pay damages of more than £6,000 and costs and disbursements of £10,000 to Topware Interactive, owner of the computer game Dream Pinball 3D.
The firm has launched civil proceedings against 100 people suspected of illegally uploading copyrighted works on behalf of Topware Interactive. And the High Court has ordered internet service providers to release several thousand names and addresses of suspected filesharers.
